Background
North Yorkshire Council (NYC) are currently drafting the new North Yorkshire Local Plan which will guide future development and conservation in the area from 2029 until 2045. This plan covers North Yorkshire, excluding the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and outlines priorities for land use and development.
As part of this exercise the Council invited people to submit sites for consideration to meet the future needs of housing, employment, retail, etc and the sites that have been submitted (including in Great Broughton) are visible on an interactive map accessible via the Council’s website.
NYC advise that they are currently assessing these sites and the inclusion of a site on this list does not mean that it will be suitable for inclusion in the final version of the local plan. Public consultation on NYC’s preferred sites is not expected until later in 2026.
